Chiropractic Care
Our Technique
A Gentle, Low-Force Approach
Our techniques are extremely gentle and limit the need for the twisting, popping or cracking that many associate with negative chiropractic experiences. Even if we choose to perform a manual, hands on adjustment, we still rely on the gentle, low force philosophy of TRT. Dr. Norman began adjusting his own son on his fifth day of life, so rest assured that the process is gentle for all!
We practice a unique form of chiropractic that focuses on the nervous system called Torque Release Technique (TRT). Developed from research and a thorough review and refinement of the “best of the best” chiropractic techniques, TRT is the most up to date chiropractic technique available. TRT is based upon a Tonal philosophy of Chiropractic and the science of the cranial-spinal-meningeal attachments that possess a direct relationship to the overall function of our nervous system.
The primary intent of TRT is to progressively reduce blockages and tension of the entire spinal system, to release trapped, unresolved neurological patterns in the body and mind, and to facilitate reintegration of the nervous system, allowing a greater expression of one’s life. For many, it has led to profound neurological changes that benefit all areas, no matter what symptom or level of health they are currently experiencing.
Tuning Your Nervous System
The spinal cord is like a guitar string anchored at the two ends of the spinal column. The “pegs” on the guitar are represented by small ligaments which actually hang the spinal cord within the spinal canal. These ligaments are few in number (about half a dozen at both ends of the spine), and only attach between specific vertebra and corresponding sections of the central nervous system.
When a specific command travels down the spinal cord from the brain to the body, or when sensory information is being transmitted back up the spinal cord to the brain; there is a “flash of electricity” that carries the messages. Quick body responses and sensory perceptions result.
The messages your brain sends and receives through your nervous system are in the form of vibrational frequencies, or Tone. These low-grade “waves” of radio frequency traveling up and down your spinal cord coordinate your central nervous system. This affects your level of consciousness and awareness, your moods and emotions and the various metabolic and hormonal functions of your body.
TRT differs from many of the other chiropractic techniques in that it focuses a lot of attention to the “tuning pegs,” the strategic and vital connection points between the spinal cord and spinal column. Adjustments aim to remove any blockages to the fast acting messages traveling up and down the spinal cord and, at the same time, rebalance the overall frequency at which the nervous system is operating.
Scientifically speaking, your spinal cord is a thick string of piezo-electric gel (electricity conducting jelly). The frequency it is working at is determined by the amount of tension being placed at either end of the string. As we gently and methodically adjust these areas of your “guitar string” (spinal cord), we are changing the degree of tension in the central nervous system in an effort to change the notes that result. So, our job is to tune your spinal cord to find some more beautiful notes; that is, a better level of tension.
TRT bases its technique on gentle touch and light thrusting by using a painless, non-invasive hand-held instrument called an Integrator. The Integrator delivers a dynamic force, recoil and torque which allows for a greater thrust outcome with less force. In other words, it talks to the nervous system in the language it understands: using vibrational frequencies or TONE. This low-force adjusting method allows the nervous system to better integrate and understand new corrective information and to process it throughout the spinal cord and brain.
The Integrator is a neurologically focused device that adjusts at a specific harmonic frequency essentially mimicking unhealthy nerve tissue. In matching these frequencies, our goal is to reduce tension and stimulate “sick” nerves, restoring normal neurological function.
What Can I Expect?
Your spinal corrections actually START when you get off the table. After a TRT adjustment, it is recommended you remain active throughout the day and avoid excessive sedentary activities. Your adjustments continue as you walk, breathe and move.
You may notice that you hear a click or feel movement in your spine later on the same day after a TRT adjustment. This is your body realigning and correcting its own Subluxations. Your body is learning to recognize and release your stress more efficiently. Torque Release allows your body to make its own corrections and increase healing with ongoing care.
You may also experience an overall feeling of emotional well-being. Because these corrections are not limited to just the areas of pain and symptoms, the healing experience is typically deeper in all areas of the body, mind and emotions.
Life Transformation
For us, this is the exciting part of our work!
The nervous system is the master control system for the entire body, and our entire life experience is influenced by and filtered through it. The nervous system has merely memorized, recorded and habitualized this information over the years. This is how an “out of tune” nervous system leads to an “out of tune” life.
Through the principle of neuroplasticity, however, we have the capability for incredible transformation. In other words, when a person has a “tuned” nervous system, they will increasingly disdain things that are not in “tune” with that nervous system. They become naturally affinitive to things that are good for them and transformation occurs. (They feel better, they crave better food, better exercise, better relationships, better sleep, better expectations, etc.).
This is what we want for all of you!
